Irises at Yatsuhashi (Eight Bridges)

Ogata Kōrin 尾形光琳
Color painting formed from a pair of screens arranged horizontally side-by-side, each with six, narrow vertical panels, of irises, with dark blue flowers and green stems, growing in a diagonal from lower left towards the upper right on each screen, against a solid gold background. A small cluster of irises on the left side of the left screen. A thin, angular brown shape zig-zags across the composition from the lower center of the left screen to the upper center of the right screen. A thin rectangular border of green and gold textile surrounds each screen on all sides.
